A Life-giving church that is in love with God, Life and People
We are passionate and relentless about helping people experience the heart of God—and become like Jesus.
Our Passion Statement:
Love like He loves.
The Vision for The Vine explained:
a place of acceptance, mercy and grace that loves you right where you are, and welcomes you with open arms
a place where you truly belong, where your true family encourages you
a place of real relationships where we learn, love, laugh & serve together as we grow in Christ.
a place of soul-stirring worship
a place of hope, healing and restoration
a place of freedom
a place after God’s own heart
We are currently in the process of gathering together our launch team. Maybe you are part of our vision. More info will follow later.
God changed my story so much for the better. I was a bartender for many years and an entrepreneur for a few years. For most of my life, I couldn’t have cared less about God. I think for the greater part of my adult life I worked actively against Him. I would say I lived most of my life as “a practical atheist.” I know that my list of sins is much longer than the great majority of people reading this. I don’t think anyone would’ve ever thought I would become a pastor. [I know I didn’t.]
But God had mercy on me, and I believed. I met the living Lord Jesus Christ, and in His grace, He forgave me, and He gave me a new life, a new heart—and a brand new story with eternal purpose.
Now I walk with Him. I know He is always with me. My heart’s desire is to grow to be more like Him each day. And I will never get over Him.
I am so far from perfect it’s almost funny, but I know God loves me despite my weaknesses, imperfections, and yes, sins. Sue and I went through a difficult time in our marriage—but God brought us through it. Now God uses us to help restore even the most broken of marriages. It is true—“For with God, nothing is impossible.”
We have two great sons, Matthew and Luke, and a very funny cat named Rocky. We love singles, kids, teens, parents, and people of every sort. Our dream is to see people become who God created them to be and to fully join God’s Story. God wants your story to be part of His Great Story. How awesome is that?
Over the years, I had some excellent training; however, the best training I have received was in actual pastoral ministry where I saw people at their best and their worst, and learned to Love like He loves. God and a few other people also saw me at my best, and my worst—and loved me there. For this, I will always be grateful.
I have received both a Master of Divinity and a Master of Christian Counseling & Discipleship degrees from the institution now known as Capital Seminary and Graduate School. I also received my undergraduate degree from Georgetown University (“Go You Hoyas!”). By God’s grace, I have had the opportunity to lead men’s discipleship groups, marriage groups, mission trips, community outreaches, prayer groups and to co-lead a Celebrate Recovery group.
I love this this life! I enjoy music, art, movies and sports of any kind (especially basketball). I am a writer who has written two books which I hope will be released in the near future. I currently belong to the Writer’s Center in Bethesda.
